Retail Building Compliance Assistance – Regulatory Report, Building Consent, Certificate of Public Use, and Code Compliance Certification

Working with Farsight has smoothed the process between Tenant/Council and Kiwi Property Group. Communication has been proactive, professional, and beneficial to all parties. Obtaining the CCC for both Johnny Bigg and Connor in record time was amazing. I would highly recommend tenants to utilise Farsight to streamline the BC/Compliance process. This greatly assisted opening the new tenancies to trade. I look forward to working with Farsight for future tenancy builds at The Plaza, Palmerston North. - Shane Halcox – Kiwi Property – Facilities Manager The team at Farsight have the ability to connect the multiple resources required for project compliance and completion. The project timeframes for the retail sector are notoriously tight, with a program of around 12 weeks from an empty tenancy, through leasing, design, Council, pricing, and construction. Having a deep understanding and experience with council and compliance, is instrumental in delivering fitouts on-time.

The Challenge:

To deliver both Johnny Bigg and Connor retail fitouts through the regulatory processes from end to end while also providing localised compliance coordination between the Australian client and Kiwi landlord, shopfitter, and engineers.

How Farsight NZ Helped:

Retail Apparel Group reached out to Farsight NZ to assist and manage the compliance process for their Johnny Bigg and Connor fitouts at The Plaza Shopping Centre in Palmerston North. Farsight NZ was excited to introduce the benefits of their end-to-end service to the Retail Apparel Group.

Both retail fitouts were running concurrently, with compressed timeframes, that meant time-saving efficiencies were paramount. The vast knowledge of the Farsight NZ team with regulations, concise applications, and respected relationships with Council ensured that the Building Consent, Certificate of Public Use, and Code Compliance Certificates for both stores were issued in record time.

With simplifying compliance being the Farsight NZ mission, coordinating the compliance requirements and imparting expertise with all stakeholders for these stores reduced cost and time for the client.

The benefits of Farsight’s involvement were:

  • Thorough document review, design feedback, and consultant coordination provided a clear understanding to the client on the NZ Regulations and requirements that reduced friction between all parties.
  • Provided Regulatory Reports addressing Access for persons with disabilities and means of escape from Fire, that demonstrated excellent compliance.
  • Prepared, submitted, and managed Council applications that focused on the relevant information, enabling a speedy Council approval process.
  • Maintained proactive communication with Council and stakeholders to ensure a smooth CPU and CCC approval close out process.

The Outcome:

A seamless and efficient end to end approvals process that provided the client with confidence and certainty and aided in the successful delivery of two great retail offers.

The extensive knowledge and support of the Farsight team ensured an efficient navigation of the approvals process, which in turn enabled the client, landlord, and contractors to focus on opening the welcome additions of Johnny Bigg and Connor to the Manawatu.
